Elixir Distillers is an independent bottler that released The Single Malts of Scotland range in 2002. This range consists of vintage single malt Scotch whiskies selected for their individual quality and character. Along with the classic single cask collection, the range includes the Director’s Special series personally selected by Sukhinder Singh, as well as two small-batch collections: the accessible Reserve Casks and the more mature Marriage of Casks.

A batch of four ex-sherry buts from Caol Ila distillery was used to create this single malt, distilled in 2011 and aged for more than 10 years.

Nose – Plenty of bright, nostalgia-filled sweet and floral notes – candyfloss by the seaside, fresh lavender and spun sugar. Next appears more heady, rich notes such as toasted crumpets and maple syrup. A slight herbaceous background of cucumber infused water and fresh basil.

Palate – Sticky sweet, with indulgent caramel sauce, saltwater taffy and sugar coated hazelnuts – all with a background of ashy smoke. A cup of fresh peppermint tea, sweetened with blossom honey, followed by a touch of savoury character.

Finish – Spoonfuls of plum jam round out a succulent finish.
